Louisville football will look to close 2020 class with these five players

Joe Perkins – Safety
6’1, 195-pounds
Considering: Louisville, Colorado
After initially committing to Colorado back in May, three-star safety Joe Perkins re-opened his recruitment and instantly became a trendy crystal ball pick for the Cards.
Hailing from Madison, MS, Perkins chose the Buffaloes quickly after new head coach Mel Tucker offered after only having offers from smaller mid-major and FCS programs. However, Louisville’s staff extended an offer to Perkins just five days after his commitment to Colorado and quickly began to receive interest in return.
Perkins has been de-committed from Colorado for just a few weeks now, and the Cards currently stand as the favorite to land his services moving forward. The offer sheet again may not sound great, but when you watch him play, you see a guy who fits exactly what the staff wants to do in the secondary.
At 6’1, 200-pounds, Perkins has great size for the safety spot and displays nice ball-skills and the ability to fly to the football. Wreaking havoc on receivers by flying to the football is what Bryan Brown looks to do and Perkins shows that ability both on the ground and in the air.
The Mississippi safety took an unofficial visit to Louisville on June 1st according to Jody Demling and a decommitment announcement came just a few weeks later. I’ll let you draw the lines in the sand on where things stand between Perkins and the Cards. Let’s just say, I feel pretty good about the chances of Perkins wearing red and black.
