Louisville football looks to get increased production from its defense in 2019, and that may start with the linebacking unit.

Under the two new linebackers coaches Dale Jones and Cort Dennison, one of Louisville football’s deepest units is looking to make a big splash in 2019.

The Cardinals return a strong core of talent in the middle of a defense that is taking an upward trajectory during a fresh start in year one of the Scott Satterfield era.

Now Jones, who is coaching for the first time outside of Boone, North Carolina since 1996,and Cort Dennison, who returns to Louisville after a year away at Oregon, will try to impart their wisdom on a position group that has a lot of talent but has lacked consistent leadership.

Be it via transfer, position change, or as an incoming freshman, the Cards have only added to their depth this season.

Now, the Cards are ready to tackle what is projected to be one of the toughest schedules in the country in 2019.
