New Louisville football defensive end Ty Tyler is ranked as a top 100 player according to FanSided’s college football experts.
Ty Tyler is a name that most Louisville football fans don’t know about. Most college football fans, in general, have not heard of the fifth-year senior from Punta Gorda, Florida (tiny airport, but amazing football talent, apparently).
Tyler was a three year standout for the Marshall Thundering Herd. After Redshirting his freshman year, Tyler progressively improved his game over his final three seasons with The Herd.
Now, the 6’3,” 270-pound defensive lineman could become one of the best players on the Louisville roster- at least according to Nicholas Ian Allen of College Football Winning Edge and FanSided.com, who compiled a 2019 College football top 100 players list.
"Average college football fans may finally learn about Ty Tyler, the Marshall transfer who piled up 11 Production Points for the Thundering Herd in 2018, now that he’s set to play in the ACC. Tyler tied for fourth in Conference USA with nine sacks last season, while also recording 10.0 tackles for loss and 15 run stuffs. Recently committed to new Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield, Tyler’s pass-rushing ability (he has been credited with 50 career quarterback hurries) should help the Cardinals be much more competitive in 2019."
Tyler’s monstrous junior season propelled him to new heights, and the Louisville football coaching staff took notice. The Cards needed all the help that they could get on defense after a disastrous 2018 season, and Tyler could be the perfect fit for Scott Satterfield and his staff.
Now, Tyler brings his talent to a budding defensive line hungry to turn things around from last season.
Players like G.G. Robinson, Tabarius Peterson, Amonte Caban, Jarrett Jackson, and Jared Goldwire proved that the Cards have a lot of talent up front, but due to scheming, lack of team chemistry, and an overall downward trend of the program, the defensive line slipped in 2018.
A year later, the line is refocused, and with the addition of Tyler and true freshman Ja’Darien Boykin, they should be reenergized.
Tyler has not gotten to play alongside anyone as talented as the returning cast on Louisville’s defensive line, yet he put together an outstanding 2018 season. Now, with a group of other talented players drawing attention from opposing offenses, Tyler can go to work in some more 1-on-1 situations.
If the experts are right, the Louisville football defensive line could be in for a vastly improved season in year one under Scott Satterfield.
