Wake Forest

DJ: Wake forest defeated the Cardinals 56-35 last year. Wake Forest has been playing Louisville tough dating back to 2015. In 2015, Louisville won 20-19. In 2016, Louisville won 44-12 but Wake Forest was leading 12-10 going into the 4th quarter. In 2017, Wake Forest defeated Louisville with Lamar Jackson 42-34. Wake forest had the 26th best rushing attack in the country but lose their second-leading rushing from last year in Matt Colburn. Louisville will continue their losing streak and drop the game against Wake Forest.

Louisville 27, Wake Forest 42 (2-4)

Will: When you think of Wake Forest, you don’t exactly think football powerhouse, as you shouldn’t. But this team has quietly reached bowl games in each of the last 3 seasons. Road games in the ACC are always tough which we have learned the hard way, winning only 2 over the last 2 seasons and 0 last year. If the Demon Deacons are gonna keep this new bowl streak alive, this is a must-win. I think this game serves as a reality check for a young Louisville team.

Louisville 17, Wake Forest 37 (3-3)

Alan: The RPO (Run/Pass Option) is alive and well for Coach Dave Clawson’s team. Louisville’s defense shows signs of improvement, but it isn’t enough in the end.

Louisville 19, Wake 27 (3-3)

Presley: The biggest head-scratcher of the Louisville football offseason is media and fans writing this game off as a loss. The reality of the situation is that Wake loses every player that has given the Cards fits over the last two years, including Greg Dortch and Matt Colburn. The Wake offense is in a bit of a rebuild mode, and their offensive line was a mess in pass protection last year. The Cards’s Ty Tyler could potentially feast on the porous Wake line and inexperienced quarterbacks.

On defense, Wake returns most of their production, but they allowed Louisville to score more points than any other FBS team last season. The Cards will be on the road, but this game has the potential to be one of Scott Satterfield’s first big wins.

Louisville 35, Wake 24 (4-2)

Ethan: Wake is another program that has surprisingly had Louisville’s number in recent years, and with things like Wakeyleaks and scuffles happening between the two teams almost every year, Wake Forest and Louisville don’t seem to like each other very much. Wake also won’t be very good this season, losing Greg Dortch and Matt Colburn – two players that have single-handedly killed Louisville for the past few seasons. Hopefully, at this point, the players will have bought into Satterfield, adjusted to his system, and gained a lot more confidence. I think this could be a good game for the Cards.
