Louisville football: Teddy Bridgewater and Lamar Jackson shine week one
By Jacob Lane
How did former Louisville football stars fare in week one of the NFL preseason?
Finally, football season is here. Well, preseason NFL at least. All 32 NFL teams took the field over the course of Thursday to Sunday, and nearly every one of the former Louisville football stars (except those who were injured) got a chance to show how far they’ve come since camp opened.
The NFL preseason is hard to watch for most fans, but for the most devoted NFL fans and college football fans, it’s an opportunity to see younger players shine and get a glimpse at what some of the returning players and new guys have been working on in the NFL offseason.
As our guy Will Reddington wrote last week, plenty of former Cards are on NFL rosters (25 to be exact) and all of them are looking to shine this preseason. Some are veterans who are just trying to get back in the grove, or in some instances show that they deserve an increased role. Some are young guys who are locks to make the roster but are using the preseason to get comfortable/take the next step in their development. While others are fighting and clawing to make the final 53-man roster for their respective club.
Several were in action over the weekend and we provide our first of four reports on how they did. Who stood out? Who didn’t play? Who looked like they may be on the verge of not making their clubs roster? We attempt to answer all of those questions.
