There’s a lot to be excited about under the new regime for Louisville football, but there are still several things that should be a cause for concern.

Louisville football is going to be much improved in 2019, point-blank, period. Under the coaching and leadership of Scott Satterfield, we’ve heard nothing but positive reviews of how the rebuilding process is going for the Cards, even in the early stages.

It’s a completely different program inside and out, and as the coaching staff prepares for the 2019 season there is no denying that the players are ready to get the bad taste of their mouth from 2018.

Though there have been tons of improvement made from the time the new staff arrived and began spring practice until now, it goes without saying that there are a lot of areas that still need work and will remain a factor for the team for the considerable future.

Guys have been moved to new positions where they are better fits, players have newfound confidence, energy and effort are no longer something that is talked about in a negative light, but instead sits as the foundation and identity of the Louisville program.

There’s been so much positive change around the program, star inside linebacker at Dorian Etheridge said at the 2019 ACC Kick-Off event, “It was like transferring schools almost.”

But even with all of that being said, there are areas where there are still concerns leading into the kickoff of the 2019 season against Notre Dame on September 2nd.

I believe in Scott Satterfield. I believe in the coaching staff, and I 100 percent believe in the players. As the saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and in this case, Louisville won’t be rebuilt in a day. These areas of concern aren’t meant to be shots at the coaching staff or players, but instead just things to watch as the season progresses.

With that being said, here are my five biggest concerns heading into the 2019 season for the new look Louisville football program (in no particular order).
