Louisville basketball: The 10 most hated opposing players
By Alan Thomas
Grayson Allen – Duke
2015-2018
Again I’ll reiterate that if you put your hands on one of ours, you will earn a spot on the it list.
Grayson Allen is historically one of the most hated players in the NCAA. His bratty personality combined with his on-the-floor antics and his legit talent made for opposing teams across the board to despise him.
Here at Louisville was no different, though it was fairly personal. We had reason enough to hate him by just being diehard college basketball connoisseurs that witnessed a kid disgrace the game with his temper flare-ups that often turned physical.
The college game had never seen a guy deflect his anger and frustration upon opposing players as often as Allen did in his time as a Duke Blue Devil. When Louisville visited Duke on February 8, 2016, his next victim would be Cardinal big man Ray Spalding.
After an unsuccessful drive to the basket by Grayson Allen, Spalding collected the rebound and turned to push the ball up the court, Allen had other ideas, tripping Ray, causing him to spill over face first while losing the ball.
After the officials and the audience at home were able to review the replay, it was 100% obvious that the alleged trip was absolutely done purposefully to cause harm. It wasn’t the first, and certainly not the last instance where the infamous tripper himself did what he does best, or at least most often.
Also, his face…I really hate his face.
The good news? Just when you already fell in love with Donovan Mitchell, he went and “accidentally” did this. Thanks, Donnie.
