Louisville basketball: Cards add two massive visitors for Louisville Live

Louisville basketball’s “Louisville Live” will feature a number of huge visitors, but possibly none bigger than the Cards’ newest announced recruits.

Louisville basketball will feature a number of big-name visitors for its second edition on September 27th.

In head coach Chris Mack’s first year, the Cards hit the ground running with one of their best recruiting tools in Louisville Live! Cardinal fans flocked to the downtown restaurant and bar attraction Fourth Street Live! where a temporary basketball court was set up.

Thousands of fans packed in to get an early glimpse at team 105, and though it was hastily put together, it was a huge success all-around. The Cards ended up landing Aidan Igiehon, Josh Nickelberry, David Johnson, and Quinn Slazinski were all in attendance and wound up being a part of Mack’s first class.

Now, the Cards are looking to reel in some of the biggest recruits in program history at this years Louisville Live. Rivals.com’s Jake Weingarten has already confirmed that four-star forward Jaemyn Brakefield and five-star guards Devin Askew and Caleb Love will be in attendance.

Today, Rivals’ Mark Ennis confirmed that Louisville’s own Jay Scrubb and top recruit DJ Steward will be in attendance as well via CardinalSports.com.

Scrubb is one of the more highly-coveted prospects in this class for the Cards. He is rated as the consensus No. 1 overall JUCO recruit in the 2020 class, and its been noted that he has interest in testing the NBA Draft waters after his final season at Jogan Logan College.

A stand-out player at Trinity high school in Louisville, Scrubb is one of the most rapidly rising players in the country. Landing him would add freak athleticism and another long guard to an already-stacked Louisville backcourt in 2020-2021 that could score at a very high level right away.

Steward is a smaller, quicker guard who is gaining a lot of traction in the class of 2020, recently rising to No. 35 in the 247Sports player rankings. He recently cut his list down to eight schools and has multiple big players recruiting him hard.

Both guys are high on Mack’s list, and would be excellent additions to the 2020 class.

They’ll join Jaemyn Brakefield, Devin Askew, and Caleb Love at Louisville Live, and Chris Mack will also receive visits from Deivon Smith, Nimari Burnett, and Josh Hall in September.

Last year we saw just how impactful of a recruiting tool Louisville Live was for Chris Mack and his program. He picked up four of his six commitments in 2019 in September, and it was a big part of the decision making for Aidan Igiehon the following month.
