Considering Satterfield takes his special teams seriously, I will follow suit by placing Louisville football’s 5th-year senior Kicker 17th on this list.

Whether you take it as seriously as the new coach, one thing is for sure:

Good kickers matter – and Blanton Creque is really good.

Already one of Louisville’s top kickers (6th all-time in points scored, 4th in FG made), Creque has one final season to really cement his name among the best kickers in program history.

With a very challenging first-year schedule for coach Satterfield, it certainly helps to have reliability and consistency in a position that translates into points.

BRL’s Jacob Lane has a good summary of Creque’s figures in his article on Louisville’s strongest position groups, which he named the Special Teams unit number one:

"“Creque’s numbers took a big dip in 2018 after being first in the ACC and second nationally in point scored in 2017, which was one of the best seasons from a Cardinal kicker in history. He attempted just 12 field goal attempts (down from 20 in 2017) and only 30 extra points compared to the 59 in 2017. However, even with fewer attempts Creque was nearly automatic going 10/12 on field goals, including a 46 yarder, and 27/30 on extra points.”"

I suspect we see Creque’s numbers increase this year with a more consistent offense and scoring effort this season, providing Satterfield a safety net in the form of three points.

Seeing that Louisville has also signed one of the top high school kickers in the nation in the 2020 class, I’m confident that Louisville will be spoiled with great kicking for years to come.

Here’s to a great year, Blanton.
