There are few players you’ll find that have received more confidence and praise from the new staff than Amonte Caban.

The 6’1” 256-pound redshirt-senior defensive end will be relied upon to help anchor Louisville’s overhauled defense. Being that Louisville football’s defensive coordinator Brian Brown runs a 3-4 scheme, meaning there will typically be only 3 defensive linemen on the ball, it is imperative that Caban show out in his final year with the Cards.

And I think he knows it, with many preseason reports indicating Caban has looked like a machine at defensive end thus far, Satterfield echoed that thought after Louisville’s spring practice concluded –

"“On defense, the defensive line will fit nicely in our scheme. We are switching from a four down to a three-down but we have some guys there. Amonte Caban is one who stands out for us. That could be a surprise spot for us.”"

With the improved play of other defensive guys like G.G. Robinson, Tabarius Peterson, and transfers such as Ty Tyler – Caban and Co. have a chance at being a real factor in games this year if they can stay healthy.

As the staff has been able to watch the team more, the more Caban has been pointed out as a guy who will be a playmaker, leader, and trendsetter for the Cardinals.

Leading the team in sacks is a possibility for Caban, who showed the ability to do so last season although it didn’t reflect in the overall statistics, and becoming the voice of the defense is a very strong possibility.
