If Louisville wins more than the projected three wins in 2019, what will be the biggest reason?

Tanner Hickman: If Louisville for whatever reason was to make it to a bowl the biggest reason would be the defense. I think there’s too much that has to go right on offense that I can’t exactly pinpoint a specific area, If Louisville were to go to a bowl it will have been because their defense has kept them in games and made crucial plays.

Presley Meyer: Effort and execution. If these guys play for the guy next to them, there’s success to be had. The Cards can turn some heads this season.

Ethan Sprowles: The player’s buy-in and the team stays healthy. Louisville still has a good amount of talent starting. The issue is the two and three deep. Louisville needs to find consistency at the quarterback position, and improvement in the trenches.

Charron Elliott: Lousivile’s defense would be the biggest reason they win more than three games. If the defense comes to play and forces some turnovers the Cardinals can get more than three wins.

Jacob Lane: If Louisville wins more than the three games in 2019 it’ll be because Scott Satterfield is a really good football coach. I know that sounds cliche, but hear me out. Nothing about this Louisville team would ever lead believe you to think that they could go from 2-10 to a potential bowl team less than a year after what we saw at the end of the Petrino era.

If Louisville wins any more than three games they’ll do so because they were coached up to the level they should’ve been and reached at least a portion of their potential. We’ve seen Satterfield take his teams into games against power five programs and give them everything they have, regardless of what the game says should happen on paper.

Louisville will compete hard all season, and with a few 50/50 games on the schedule and a roster full of capable players, coaching could make all the difference.

Alan Thomas: If the Cards come out with a powerful running attack that they are capable of, then we will be able to control the game clock more. The key will be blocking up front. If we are able to secure more than 3 wins, it will be because of the offensive line.

Alex Stengel: The biggest reason will be a combination of things – decent defense with a functional offense. Essentially if teams don’t score on every possession this season, Louisville will be in more close games than we think.
