Just like that, it feels like Louisville Football is back. Louisville got to have fun in Cardinal Stadium again. While we donā€™t celebrate moral victories in the Ville, the future already seems bright.

Villeā€™ns View is back and we couldnā€™t be happier to see our beloved Louisville football and basketball taking the fields and courts again. Last year was a big year for us and this year looks to be even bigger. We are very appreciative of the continued support.

While Notre Dame won the game, the story of Monday night was not the Fighting Irish. The story of the night was that Louisville football is not going anywhere.

After a season that was just about as embarrassing as one can imagine, Louisvillefootball managed to lose just about all respect from the rest of the country. Things seemed quite bleak for the program for at least the next few years.

But last night it felt like Scott Satterfield, the staff, the administration, and the fans all conclusively and loudly proclaimed that this program is going to keep winning, and this city is still committed to big-time football.

The electric Card March, the record crowd, the atmosphere, and to think all of that was coming off a 2-10 seasonā€¦ Thatā€™s such a huge statement from Louisville.

This city is hungry for good football again and this team seems committed to making that happen.

What a stage to make the statement, too. With the Goodyear Blimp circling the stadium, prime time on Labor Day, the only game on in the country. ESPN brought out the A-Team College Gameday crew. It was truly a spectacle, and a great way to finally show off all of the new bells and whistles that come with the newly expanded and upgraded football complex.

Need I remind you, this program went 2-10 last season. Just look at that crowd. Just have this on repeat when recruits visit.

It was cool to finally see how loud the stadium can get with the new expansion, it had to be the best crowd weā€™ve had in some time.

Also, finally ā€“ thereā€™s new 3rd down music! The best part about itā€¦ We couldnā€™t even really hear the 3rd down music because of how loud that crowd was.

The actual game itself wasnā€™t too bad either.

That first hour was some of the most fun weā€™ve had in that stadium in a while. Was it because we looked like world-beaters? No, we looked far from it. But Louisville was playingĀ proud football again. It was the Louisville Football that we had all grown to love in the last 15 years during Louisvilleā€™s meteoric rise to national prominence. After last season, it made you wonder when weā€™d see that againĀ ifĀ weā€™d see that again ā€“ and it see it again so soon and so surprisingly felt like a dream if youā€™re a fan.

Louisville did so many things last night that we havenā€™t seen this program do in years. Louisville was able to successfullyĀ run the football. Louisville was able to get actualĀ stops on 3rd down.Ā Louisvilleā€™s offensive line looked solid.Ā Louisville was able toĀ pressure the quarterback.

All very encouraging signs for the future of this football team and a sign of things to come in the Scott Satterfield era.

Itā€™s gonna be fun to watch how Satterfield uses studs like Hawkins, Hall, Atwell, Fitzpatrick, and Dawkins on offense all year. Thereā€™s just so many weapons on this offense. We just need to see Jawon continue to settle in his role and gain more confidence.

Satterfield showed leadership, poise, ability to inspire, and skilled playcalling. This dude can coach. To go from what we saw last year to what we saw last night in just one offseason is very impressive.

Obviously itā€™s only been one game, but it appears we have also found ourselves a heck of a defensive coordinator in Bryan Brown. Those guys were playing inspired football and flying to the ball on defense. It was fun to watch them get 3 sacks in the 1st half.

Again, all of us wouldā€™ve liked to see a win. But thereā€™s plenty of reason for optimism. Just imagine what this staff can do once they have a couple of years to really get things going here.

You gotta love this from Satterfield. This is the type of guy that you want leading your program. This is the type of guy that can rebuild something into something even greater. This is what a true leader looks like.

Itā€™s clear how much he truly cares, how much he really wants to win, and how passionate he is about this football team. I donā€™t think there should be any question about the buy-in from these players.

Next. The 50 greatest Cardinals of all time. dark

My throat still hurts, but we got a game again in just a few days, Card Nation. Weā€™ll see you guys back at Cardinal Stadium this Saturday.
