How did former Louisville football stars fare in week two of the NFL regular season?

As of Tuesday, September 17th there are currently 16 former Louisville football student-athletes playing at the NFL and doing so mostly at a very high level.

All preseason we recapped each Cardinals performance from the week that was and we’ll continue to do just that throughout the NFL regular season.

After a stellar week one from guys like Jaire Alexander, Lamar Jackson, DeVante Parker, and even a guy like Reggie Bonnafon, the excitement around the NFL has probably never been higher amongst Card Nation.

While Louisville has put tons of players into the NFL over the last 10 to 15 years, none of them have come with the star power like what we are seeing from second-year players Lamar Jackson and Jaire Alexander.

Lamar Jackson got his season started off with a bang against the lowly Miami Dolphins in week one, throwing for five touchdowns and over 300 yards in a blowout win in front of the same fans who grew up watching Jackson play in the backyard.

It was a statement performance, one that wasn’t bad coming from a “running back,” as Lamar Jackson said.

So did week two live up to the hype surrounding Jackson and his potential break out season? The easy answer was yes. Especially considering another former Louisville quarterback great was thrust into a heavy role after an injury to a soon to be Hall-of-Fame quarterback.

Who had big weeks? What does it mean moving forward?

We take a look back and week two and look ahead to week three for the former Cardinals playing in the NFL.
