Javian Hawkins – RB

If there’s one thing we know about this Louisville football team, it’s that their identity is based off Scott Satterfield’s continued focus to run the football.

So far through the season, the Cards have rushed the football 183 times (including Malik Cunningham and Jawon Pass) and rank 22nd in the country in total rushing yards per game according to ESPN.com

After seeing the run production slip a little against Florida State, Louisville will be licking their chops to go head-to-head against one of the worst run defenses in all of college football in Boston College.

That means this week, Javian Hawkins could be looking at a career-best type of game if the Cards are able to keep the chains moving as we saw in the first three weeks of the season.

Whether it be against Notre Dame, EKU, or Western, Hawkins has proven to be a dynamic, trustable two to three-down back capable of making big plays in a blink of an eye. He struggled in comparison to those contests against FSU as the interior defensive proved to be a big challenge for the offensive line.

Much like the rest of the team, we saw the running backs and offensive show a lot of fight in the second half, looking like a completely different team running the ball.

Despite his size, Hawkins has done a great job of picking up big yardage plays and keeping the sticks moving against bigger defensive lines as his fellow teammate, Hassan Hall, has done as well.

The Cards will have every opportunity to establish dominance in the run game and sustain long drives, and the play from the quarterback position will go a long way in helping Hawkins and Hall have big days against Boston College.
