Louisville football game balls: Offense stars in win over Boston College

Blanton Creque – K
Stats: 2/3 FG, 5/5 XP – Game-winning field goal
You don’t get the nickname “Cold Blooded Creque” for nothing. Saturday against Boston College, senior kicker Blanton Creque continued his “ice in his veins” kicking going 2/3 on field goals in a game where every single point mattered.
Louisville leaned on him time and time again, whether it be knocking down extra points (which he did all five times) as well as making what would be the game-winning field goal in the closing minutes of the game.
With the game on the line, head coach Scott Satterfield had no reservations in turning to his kicker even with him missing the first kick of the game from 44 yards out in the closing seconds of halftime after a long drive from the Cardinal offense. Why would he? Up until this point, the senior was 47 of 57 on field goals in his career and the most accurate kicker in Louisville football history.
Even with missing a field goal earlier in the game, Creque wasn’t phased proving that he had earned that nickname and for Seth Dawkins to say in the post-game press conference that Creque has “ice in his veins.”
Once again Creque’s leg helped to push Louisville ahead in the scoring column and ultimately help them earn their first ACC win of the Scott Satterfield era, giving him the second “game-winning” kick of his career.
After the game, Scott Satterfield, as well as Seth Dawkins and Tyler Haycraft, were asked about Creque and his game-winning field goal and their answers showed the respect that the senior has in the locker room.
In a game where every single point was the difference between winning and losing (and potentially staying alive in the bowl bid discussion), Creque provided what Louisville needed and will be honored with the prestigious BRL game ball.
Well done, Blanton.
