After the Cardinals exciting win against Boston College, things are trending in the right direction on and off the field for Louisville Football. What does that mean for Satterfield’s first full recruiting cycle? Buckle up.

Louisville football is heading into week six of the 2019 College Football season, and there’s been no shortage of storylines and positive takeaways.

The first being Satterfield securing his first ACC win as the Cardinals head coach, already winning more games in five tries than Louisville did all of last season (the elephant officially left that room Saturday afternoon).

The Cards arguably had the best offensive performance since the Lamar Jackson era, racking up over 600 yards with three wide receiver’s accruing over 100 yards and RB Javian Hawkins rushing for 172 and a touchdown.

That’s a performance that demands attention, and not just from fans and media.

Just days after Louisville’s offensive explosion, rumblings in the recruiting realm started trending in the direction of the Cards.

A local high school talent at wide receiver, Jordan Watkins was once an exciting Louisville target that eventually jaded his hometown by committing to Kentucky over summer.  The 2019 trajectory of both in-state programs have taken quite a shift through the first five weeks, and Watkins has taken notice.

Jordan officially announced his de-commitment from the Cats Thursday, making Louisville the clear cut favorite to flip the local talent and keep him home.

The ‘big dogs’ down the road are done eating for now.

However, there’s another recruiting story coming out of Saturday’s victory that might hold even more weight to the Louisville faithful. The Cards aren’t done yet, and the potential recruit they’re gunning for is one near and dear to the team and fans.

Enter Christian Fitzpatrick.

On our weekly Big Red Louie podcast recorded Thursday evening, which you should definitely check out from this shameless plug, we had a great conversation with current Louisville WR Dez Fitzpatrick’s dad, Coach Greg Fitzpatrick.

On top of the great insight and perspective he provides as a football coach and dad of a current player, Coach Fitz also gave us a great update into the recruitment of his younger son and rising highschool star WR Christian Fitzpatrick.

At 6’4” and 210lbs – Christian Fitzpatrick definitely has the P5 attributes to be a great contributor to any offense.

Sprinkle in the fact that he has a tremendous support system, gaining excellent coaching and mentoring off the field from his father and brother Dez, and Christian has the makings of being the next big playmaker for one lucky program.

Unfortunately that current lucky program is over 2,100 miles away from Louisville, as Christian announced his commitment to Washington State late July.

Fortunately for Louisville, we just learned that Christian is still taking his official visit to the Cards, as he will be in attendance for the Clemson game. Adding another reason to be hopeful, Coach Fitz also told BRL that Louisville is the only other Official visit his son is making.

But it wasn’t just what Fitz senior was saying, but HOW he said it.

Coach Fitz really made it sound like Christian is excited for his official to Louisville, and that his recruitment might not be completely (considering he was in the car with him at the time he said it).

You can decide for yourself by listening to Coach Fitz’s interview here.

Considering that Satterfield’s squad is only a few plays away from sitting at 4-1, I think the momentum Louisville football is experiencing on the field will continue to pay dividends off it.

I think we continue to see more heads turn to this reinvigorated team, and the Cards finishing the 2020 recruiting class strong.

Go Cards – Beat Wake.
