Win the turnover battle

Virginia is a team that has struggled in terms of taking care of the football in comparison to the rest of the NCAA. They’ve lost five fumbles and thrown nine interceptions this season, which is tied for 109th in the country.

They are tied with the Louisville Cardinals and several other teams at 64th when it comes to turnovers gained as each team has forced ten turnovers on the season.

The Vegas oddsmakers are expecting this game to be very close, so this area of the game could be the difference. Huge interceptions from the Cardinals have absolutely affected or even changed the final result of the Wake Forest and Boston College games and as previously mentioned, Bryce Perkins is a guy who the Cardinals could force into some takeaways.

The defense carried the Cardinals on Saturday. They kept them in the game for a lot longer than most expected. This could be the game that we look back on saying the defense won it for us. Which hasn’t been the case in the prior two ACC victories, as they surrendered 39 points to Boston College and 59 to Wake Forest.

Louisville has found big plays within the offense and on special teams in all of the wins this season. Saturday the defense needs to rise to the occasion and make the big play or plays if Louisville is going to emerge victorious.
