Louisville basketball: Final takeaways from Cards clash with Bellarmine
Louisville really needs Steven Enoch and Malik Williams back, and the eventual return of David Johnson will undoubtedly help
Only five players scored for Louisville last night, compared to eight for Bellarmine. So it’s certainly fair to say that Coach Mack needs more out of his players, especially his bench unit. It isn’t too big of a concern yet, but Louisville will lose nine times out of 10 if they only have five guys score in the regular season against the big dogs.
The good news for Louisville is that Steven Enoch will be back for the opener, and fellow big Malik Williams should be back for the start of ACC play.
Enoch averaged nearly 10 points per game last year and Williams averaged just under eight. Four-star freshman guard David Johnson should be coming back sooner rather than later as well, and all of the freshmen will continue to develop and become more comfortable in the system, likely leading to more contributions from a variety of players. Ryan McMahon and Fresh Kimble will need to put up some points, but they are both very capable of doing such.
