Louisville football will look to get past another challenging opponent when they travel to Miami to take on the 5-4 Miami Hurricanes. We give our four keys to a Louisville win.

Louisville football’s toughest remaining game comes this Saturday in Coral Gables, Florida against the Miami Hurricanes.

The Cards haven’t played the Canes since 2014 when things were very different at Louisville. That game was post-Teddy but pre-Lamar and it was Bobby Petrino’s first game back at Uof. That night Gerod Holliman started his historic interception campaign, getting the first of a record-setting 14 interceptions on opening night against the Hurricanes.

A lot has happened since that game occurred. Louisville has been ranked as high as third in the nation, but they’ve also had a two-win season. Now all of that’s in the past, Scott Satterfield is the guy everyone’s talking about these days.

With a road win this weekend, he and the Cardinals can secure bowl eligibility just one year removed from one of the worst in school history and putting themselves in the driver’s seat for a trip to the Orange Bowl, should they win their final three games.

Miami is a team that’s going to be very tough to beat, coming off of a big win over Florida State. They have NFL style talent, but it’s a younger team. Miami linebackers Shaquille Quarterman and Michael Pinckney are both projected to be late first-round or early second-round draft picks and they combine to be “probably the best linebackers we’ve seen” according to Scott Satterfield.

Miami’s defense is ranked 14th overall in the nation, giving up only 290 yards per game. Only two teams in the country, SMU and Pittsburgh, have more sacks on the season than Miami. Their defense is physical, fast and they’ve been on quite the tear lately.

The last two times we’ve seen Miami, they allowed only 12 points in a road win at Pitt and this past weekend, they gave up just 10 during their easy victory over Florida State. It’s tough to find a defense that’s playing better football than Miami is right now.

The Cards have their work cut out for them at 3:30 on Saturday. The oddsmakers have Louisville as a six-point underdog at the U. Here’s how they can get it done.
