No. 5 Louisville basketball opened up its 2019-20 season with a dominant win on the road against conference foe Miami. BRL discusses the game in a special edition of the podcast and we grade each player’s performance.

In a night of head-turning upsets in the state of Kentucky, Louisville basketball refused to fall victim to the Miami Hurricanes in a season-opening conference road win.

After a lackluster start by the Cards- and the ACC Network- Louisville got things on track and put together a complete team effort in dismantling of a solid Miami team.

Picked to finish ninth in the ACC in 2019, Miami brings back all of their pieces from a disappointing 2018-19 and added some impressive pieces around a trio of guards who will be dangerous come season’s end.

After the game, the BRL guys broke down the good, the bad, and everything in between on a special edition of the Big Red Louie Podcast.

Louisville stifled Miami’s game plan completely, however, and the Cards looked like the clear-cut better team for the majority of the game.

The Cardinals used a 17-0 run midway through the first half fueled by three threes from Ryan McMahon to blow the game open. In the second half, it was ACC preseason player of the year Jordan Nwora who stole the show, scoring in a myriad of ways, including a Sportcenter top 10 dunk.

In the end, Louisville finished with a 13 point win but truly won by a much wider margin. The Cardinals led by as many as 30 in the second half before calling off the dogs late.
