Ryan McMahon

The redshirt senior guard is playing the second-most minutes on the team, behind Dwayne Sutton, and he’s deserving of every one of his minutes. He is also the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 12.3 points per game.

Ryan McMahon isn’t going to blow anyone away with his defensive skills, but he’s looked a lot better on that end of the floor thus far, and he is averaging a steal per game. We all know what McMahon is known for, and he’s doing it quite well.

In four games, McMahon has nailed 13 three-pointers. Kentucky and Virginia have hit that many threes as a team. The Sarasota native is knocking down the three-ball at a ridiculous clip, hitting 59.1 percent of his attempts.

Overall, McMahon has connected on 55.2 percent of his field-goal attempts and he’s a knockdown free throw shooter. His shooting ability is up there with some of the best in college basketball and he’s a guy who the Cards will rely on when they need to end a scoring drought or spark a run. McMahon’s passing and decision making has impressed me a lot thus far this season.

He’s not lighting up the assists category with 2.5 assists per night, but he’s avoiding costly mistakes and is making better passes to set up his teammates. If Ryan can continue to play at this level, he’ll be a huge reason why Louisville can make a run to the national title game.
