Steven Enoch

Fans were worried about the health of Steven Enoch when he missed the Cards’ exhibition game with a bruised thigh, but the big man has looked healthy since the season opener and he’s playing incredibly well. It looks like the UConn transfer stands to benefit a ton from coming back to school for one more season, as he has all the makings of a solid professional big man.

At 6’10 and 255, Enoch is continuing to utilize his massive frame early on in the season, similar to how he was playing near the end of last year. The senior is being more aggressive inside and he’s shown off a developed postgame and a smooth touch on his mid-range jump shot.

He hasn’t connected on a three-pointer yet this year, but he’s capable of hitting a couple from beyond the arc. He’s averaging 11.8 points and 10.3 rebounds so far, and he’s hitting 71 percent of his two-point attempts.

Enoch isn’t being plagued by early foul trouble like he was last season either. That’s not to say he’s sacrificing defensive aggression, however, as he’s swatting away 1.5 shots per game.

Oh, and he’s only playing 23 minutes a night. If you look at Enoch’s per 40-minute statistics, you might not believe them. He would be averaging 20.4 points, 17.8 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, and 0.9 assists.

Steven will be another key piece to how far the Cards can go this season, and they’ll certainly need his presence on the floor to battle with some of the better bigs they go up against.
