Louisville football will look for their seventh win of the season on Saturday when they welcome Syracuse to town for Senior Day. Jacob Lane and I give our bold predictions and locks for Saturday’s contest.

Louisville football enters its penultimate match-up of the regular season as a nine point favorite against Syracuse. However, Orange faithful and those around the program still believe in their team’s abilities and feel they have a real chance of making a bowl game.

That will have to begin with a win in hostile territory when Syracuse visits Louisville for senior day on Saturday.

The Cardinals’ unexpected turnaround has been well-documented. Louisville was expected to see a year of serious rebuilding under first-year head coach Scott Satterfield after Bobby Petrino was fired mid-season in 2018 amid Louisville’s lowliest year in school history.

But a cultural overhaul that saw players switching positions and walk-ons and graduate transfers supplementing losses to counteract serious depth concerns all of a sudden has Louisville locked in for a bowl bid and hungry for a second-place ACC finish.

The reversal of expectations in 2019 for both teams has not gone unnoticed by those around each program. But both squads will have to show up locked in and ready to compete if they want to walk away with a win.

For Syracuse, it is do-or-die. A win this week and the Orange are still in contention to extend their season with bowl eligibility. A loss likely makes next week’s match-up with Wake Forest their final of the year.

Meanwhile, Louisville needs to bring the same sort of mentality on their end. The last time the Cardinals had a big-time win (at home against Virginia) they came out flat against Miami and showed flashes of the lack of discipline a year ago. If Louisville can come out focused, however, Syracuse feels like a team looking for a reason to pack it in.

Let’s take a look at three bold predictions and three locks for the Cards vs. the Orange.
