Three things to like and dislike about Louisville football’s bowl match-up
It’s time for Louisville football to put the Mississippi State curse to an end.. For good.
Louisville football fans’ dreams are coming true. The Cards will travel to Nashville for the third time in three months when they play in the Music City Bowl on December 30th.
This weekend, multiple reputable sources have projected the Cards to play in Nashville, and now ESPN’s Brett McMurphy has all but confirmed the speculation.
Since Kentucky was not headed to the Music City Bowl, that meant Louisville likely was headed to face Tennessee (higher-ups with the Bowl indicated that they would not pair the two together in back-to-back games).
However, in the eleventh hour, the SEC had to make a few adjustments. Tennessee turned down the Music City Bowl, moving Kentucky to the Belk Bowl and sending Mississippi State to Nashville.
Louisville football fans should be ecstatic about the bowl bid.
A game close to home in a city that is a ton of fun against a really attractive SEC name? That’s a world ahead of what fans expected just four months ago.
Though Louisville finished the season on a sour note at Kentucky, 2019 overall is a huge success. A 7-win season with wins over four bowl teams, three teams that have been ranked at some point this season, and the ACC Coastal champions is no small feat given where the Cards were just last year.
Now, Louisville has an opportunity to get three extra weeks of practice and finish the season off strong.
Fans get a chance to make a short trip to the Music City Bowl in its last year of affiliation with the ACC. And they seem almost certain to take advantage of it.
Let’s take a look at what this game and match-up could truly mean to Cards fans. Here are three positives and three negatives for the Cards’ bowl match-up.
