Who makes up the Mount Rushmore of Louisville football from the past decade? We take a closer look at Louisville’s top 4 players in the last ten years.

What a decade it’s been on the football field over the last ten years for the Louisville football program.

Entering the new decade back in 2010, Louisville football was in a very similar spot to where they find themselves now, actually. The decade prior saw Louisville make their first BCS bowl appearance since their 1991 upset of Alabama by way of the 2007 Orange Bowl, where they knocked off Wake Forest and looked prime to become a prominent program nationally.

The Cardinals would go on to have a winning record and play in a bowl game in 9 out of the next 10 seasons, including the largest BCS bowl upset of all-time: a 33-23 trouncing of No. 3 Florida in the 2013 Sugar Bowl.

During this decade, Louisville bounced from the Big East to the AAC to the ACC, where they have settled in as a yearly contender in the Atlantic Division, winning the division in 2016 and finishing second twice.

Along the way, the Cardinals saw some of their best players in school history make contributions en route to the NFL.

In 2015, Louisville had a record 10 players taken in the NFL draft and overall the Cards have seen 25 players selected since 2010, including four first-rounders.

If you’re talking the four best players of the last decade, however, there are four that stand out above the rest – the Mount Rushmore of sorts for Louisville football.

Three coaches have led the program to a combined 80-48 record since the year 2010, including four bowl wins. More than 800 players have had their names listed on a roster as a member of the program. The combination of the two led to a 80-48 record, which has to be the most winningest decade in program history.

Only four could be mentioned as the “Mount Rushmore” of the decade. Who makes up that group?

Let’s take a look.
