How will the 2021 class be impacted?

The impact on the 2021 class may be the most interesting narrative going forward.

It is sort of uncharted territory if you’re a Louisville football fan and pretty new for anyone across the college football landscape, but the Cardinals are pretty much all but turned to the junior class at this point.

Last season, Louisville lost nearly all of its commits from the previous coaching staff and scrambled during both signing periods to really piece together the final product.

This year, the staff was able to make a concerted effort to grab those early signees, and that has led to an opportunity to start focusing on what is to come in this offseason.

The good news as well is that the coaching staff is not waiting to see if any particular holes are filled, meaning that they can dive headfirst into assessing their needs for 2021. For instance, Louisville has a persistent need at inside linebacker. If the Cards were waiting on a top linebacker to decide in the class of 2020, there would be some concern as to where they should try to allocate their scholarships in the class of 2021.

Everything is a domino effect. In order to create the most balanced class possible, the Cards had to know what they were getting in 2020, and they have done just that.

The 2021 class is shaping up to be one of the best in school history. Many local prospects are high on the Cards, and players around the country are taking notice that Louisville and coach Satterfield present a fun opportunity going forward.
