Be the coach: Finalizing the Louisville football roster for 2020
By Jacob Lane
CB, Art Green – Hutchison CC
Status: Junior college transfer, play two (immediate eligibility)
Another player who may not necessarily be on the Louisville football radar as of right now but could still be an option should the staff want to pursue is junior college star cornerback Art Green. The 6’2 JUCO corner does hold an offer from Scott Satterfield and the Cards, but according to his 247 Sports profile he has not taken any official or unofficial visits to the Ville.
Green originally committed to Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football program back in May of 2019 following an unofficial visit to campus. He stayed committed to the Volunteers all the way up until the early signing period, where he announced his intentions to look elsewhere.
Whether it be grades or other issues, Green ultimately did not commit anywhere and remains one of the biggest names on the open market. Following his second season at Hutchinson CC, Green put together an impressive statistical year totaling 19 total tackles, six pass breakups, and six interceptions.
With offers from nearly every SEC program, there’s no telling if Louisville would have a shot at landing a player of Green’s caliber this late in the process, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt trying. Green showed in his two seasons at Hutchinson that he’s got lockdown corner potential and the ability to make plays on the ball against talented receivers, something Louisville desperately needs.
The Cards finished with just seven interceptions in 2019, which tied for 112th nationally, and even with projected starters Chandler Jones and Marlon Character returning there is still need for solid depth.
Bryan Brown lost Cornelius Sturghill and PJ Mbanasor to graduation while losing former JUCO product Justin Ford to transfer this offseason but will return both Anthony Johnson as a reserve and will welcome in Marqui Lowery Jr., and Jamel Starks this spring.

Green is a long and rangy corner who has great instincts and an incredible ability to make plays on the ball while it’s in the air. Louisville desperately needs players at the corner position who are able to not only make interceptions but also help in the run game, which is something Green will have to prove he’s capable of at the next level.
