Louisville leads wire-to-wire

Georgia Tech likely didn’t have Louisville basketball’s full attention in their first meeting.

The Cardinals were coming off the biggest win of the season at Duke, and they returned home to face a sub-.500 squad for a mid-week contest.

They were met with a Tech squad who has proven to have a consistently solid defense. The Yellow Jackets were able to muck things up a bit, make some big-time shots, and counter Louisville’s streaks with some runs of their own.

The Cardinals got out ahead by 12 late in the game, but let Georgia Tech right back in, allowing them an opportunity at a go-ahead shot in the waning moments.

Louisville enters this contest similarly to the last one. They are coming off a big-time win against Virginia, and now enter their next match-up against a team that’s tough to get up for in Georgia Tech.

However, one could argue that this match-up is different. Louisville now has experience against that tough Georgia Tech defense, and the Cards know that if they come out focused they have what it takes to put this team away.

Look for Louisville to come out and try to set the tone right away in this one. The Cards have become adept at starting hot on the road, and though the Jackets may keep things close for a while, Louisville is talented enough to win this one wire-to-wire.
