Jordan Nwora goes for 30-plus

The last time Louisville and Georgia Tech squared off, Chris Mack didn’t get a ton from his star Jordan Nwora. In fact, that could be one of the biggest contributors to the Cards trailing by double-digits in the second half, desperately looking for a spark.

We know that having a big scoring output against Georgia Tech is more than possible for Nwora as he went for 25 and eight last year when the Cards traveled to Atlanta, picking up one of their most lopsided wins of the season.

What made the performance so impressive last season for Nwora was the fact that his points mostly came from inside the three-point line. While he did hit three from behind the line, he made his impact felt mostly on mid-range pull-ups, shots on the baseline behind the defense, as well as in transition.

After struggling against the zone back in January, I expect Nwora to look back to 2019 to replicate his success. Look for Nwora to get started early with a shot from deep to pull the zone out towards him, only to turn that extra focus on him against them leading to shots on the inside and around the basket.

Georgia Tech is coming off of a game where they allowed Pittsburgh freshman Justin Champagnie to go insane, scoring a career-high 30 points on 12/17 shooting from the field. Look for Mack to heavily study what made Champagnie’s night so successful and replicate it with his star forward.

Look for a special performance out of Nwora as he continues to push his way towards the ACC Player of the Year award.
