Dekel Crowdus – Wide receiver

Lexington, KY, four-star

There probably isn’t a hotter prospect in the state of Kentucky right now than wide receiver Dekel Crowdus. After transferring from Lexington to play at IMG Academy, Crowdus eventually ended up leaving the program and coming back to Kentucky to play for Frederick Douglas High School.

Over the last few weeks the 5’10, 165-pound four-star receiver has received offers from numerous power five programs including South Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, and several others. He now has upwards of 20 offers with more to likely roll in over the coming months as Crowdus makes his way through the summer camp circuit.

Louisville has been in on Crowdus for quite some time now, offering him back in May of 2019 and it’s not hard to see why. With an official 4.40 forty time back in at the Opening Regional in ’19, Crowdus projects to be an elite slot receiver at the college level

The wide receiver position has been one of strength for Louisville over the last few years but following the 2020 season the names we’ve been accustomed to talking about could all be gone. Dez Fitzpatrick will enter his redshirt senior season and will graduate following the season while Tutu Atwell will be draft-eligible at the completion of 2020 and very well could decide he’s achieved enough to move on to the next level.

Scott Satterfield and staff have continued to add nice pieces at the position including Jordan Watkins, Braden Smith (junior college transfer), Nick Malito, and of course Christian Fitzpatrick, but adding a college-ready prospect will be huge.

Crowdus has already visited Louisville a few times, including most recently during the Cards major junior day recruiting event, which he told Cardinal Authority  “I enjoyed my day in The Ville.” With some of the top programs beating down the door of Crowdus, it’s not going to be easy to land Crowdus but don’t be shocked to see the early relationship cultivated lead to a commitment.

Louisville had some success with the class of 2020 in the state of Kentucky, landing commitments from Austin Collins, Jordan Watkins, and Josh Minkins Jr. while missing out on others like John Young, Walker ParksIzayah Cummings and Octavious Oxendine. Landing Crowdus would go a long way in continuing to fence off the state of Kentucky, keeping elite prospects at home.
