Tutu Atwell

Louisville’s resident speed demon, Tutu Atwell turned a ton of heads in 2019 and will be one of the best returning receivers in the nation this year.

Atwell was a converted quarterback coming from high school to college, so it took him a season to become acclimated as a college wide receiver, but the coaching staff was drooling over him in the 2019 offseason, and we quickly found out why. The guy has some jets.

Atwell had nearly double the receptions (69) in 2019 as the next closest receiver on the team and went over 1,000 yards on the season- a feat that guys like DeVante Parker and Jaylen Smith never even accomplished- and he set the school’s single-season reception yards record.

Atwell is going to only become more lethal in Satterfield’s offense with another year under his belt with wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer and offensive coordinator Dwayne Ledford.

He said in a recent video that he’s on “gains” during the offseason, meaning that the staff is trying to pack some more muscle onto his 160-pound frame.

Atwell became an every-down receiver and a guy who could be utilized all over the field in 2019. Now, he is looking to be a player who can be used even more in clutch situations.

Even if Atwell isn’t getting the ball on every drive, his presence alone is noteworthy. Louisville has a number of weapons on its offense, so just being able to run Atwell in motion or use him as a decoy or on rubs or other gadget plays is a huge deal.

Look for Atwell to go from unbelievable weapon to legendary status this season.
