It’s hard to believe, but Louisville football is set to get back on the field for spring practice in a matter of days. We preview the spring’s biggest storylines.

Not even two months removed from Louisville football’s bowl victory over Mississippi State to cap a surprising 8-5 first season under Coach Scott Satterfield, and they’re already back at it.

Spring Practice starts Monday for the Cards and the optimism and buzz around this team is as high as I can remember. Satterfield has officially put the Cards back on the college football radar going forward after a stellar eight-win season, shattering expectations around the country (and locally as well).

There are many things that Louisville Football fans should be excited about going into 2020 spring practice. Early freshmen enrollees are hitting the ground running (or eating) like safety Lovie Jenkins who has apparently beefed up 15lbs, fed by strength coach Mike Sirignano since getting to campus. Individual and team accolades continue to trickle in from the efforts of last season, while return starters like Tutu Atwell and Javian Hawkins are getting picked for pre-season position award lists.

The most exciting storyline overall, however, might be the fact that Louisville Football is much farther ahead of their ‘rebuild’ than anyone expected – and they’re just getting started. With any team, especially one in need of a cultural overhaul like the Cards, continuity matters.  With a full year of Satterfield’s system, schemes, culture, and expectations under them, Louisville Football is poised to be even better in year two.

With spring practice starting Monday, we wanted to touch on a few main storylines to look out for next week and beyond. It’s officially time for the 2020 football machine to get going, and I can’t wait for what is sure to be an exciting season from Coach Satterfield’s squad.
