As Louisville basketball prepares for the postseason, we have three teams we’d rather the Cards not see in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

We are inching closer to Louisville basketball’s second postseason under Chris Mack and as the NCAA Tournament draws near there’s beginning to be a better understanding of not only potential seeding but also probable opponents.

Like last year when the Cards drew the absolute last team we wanted them to draw, this year, we are hoping for a more favorable first-round selection. With Louisville likely to be somewhere between a three and a five seed, there’s a good chance that the draw will be a conference-tournament winning mid-major program.

A lot will depend on how the Cardinals finish out the season and postseason play and where potential opponents finish in their respective leagues. Each year we see dangerous mid-major programs projected to win their conference title only to be upset. However, based on current projections, we have a pretty good idea of what the 12-14 seeds will look like at this point.

Let’s take a look at three teams that we feel would present a tougher match-up than many would expect in the 2020 NCAA tournament.
