Aminu Mohammed –  Combo guard

Springfield, MO (Five-star)

National ranking: 14

Position ranking: 4

Perhaps the biggest recruiting story of the week is Louisville basketball receiving a Crystal Ball prediction for five-star wing Aminu Mohammed.

Mohammed visited Louisville for the senior night victory over Virginia Tech on March 1st, and by all accounts, he walked away extremely impressed.

The 6’4″ guard/ forward has been absolutely dominant since his arrival for class 5A Greenwood Laboratory in Missouri, pouring it in and turning a below-average team into a state title contender.

Over winter break, he led his squad to a thoroughly impressive holiday tournament win in front of 7,500 people. He scored 49 of his team’s 65 points in the championship game (including 27 of 28 in the second half) and 155 points for the tournament.

Mohammed has been just as impressive in his stint with Nike EYBL squad Boo Williams (Virginia), and averaged 17 points and eight boards a game in 2019.

It was Jeff Ermann of Inside Maryland Sports who pegged Louisville as the landing spot for Mohammed. While we will wait and see what the national pundits say about him before we overreact, it’s interesting to see an expert who has seen Mohammed visit the school of the team he covers on three ocassions lock in a prediction for the Cards after just one trip to Louisville.

Regardless, Mohammed is the type of player the Cards need in a big way. Here’s what Jerry Meyer had to say on him:

"Not long for a wing but has a big, strong build. Can overwhelm opponents with strength and athleticism. Plays with great energy. Competes everywhere on the court. Good ball handler and passer. Scoring off the dribble is his greatest strength. Developing long range shooter. Quality rebounder and defender. Should develop into an first-round NBA draft choice."

Potentially Chris Mack’s first one-and-done? Don’t rule it out just yet.
