Sweet 16

2009 blowout of Arizona

There’s literally never been a more thoroughly dominant victory in Louisville basketball tournament history than this absolute shellacking of Arizona in the 2009 Sweet 16.

This was the game that was so good it ruined this Louisville team’s shot at a national title. The Cards were so impressive in their defeat of the Wildcats that they completely underestimated their next opponent, Michigan State.

You could make an argument that this is the greatest Louisville basketball team ever assembled. If there’s a game on this list you want to break out right now and watch start to finish, it’s probably this one.

Also, feel free to give a standing ovation wherever you are when Edgar Sosa and Preston Knowles enter the game for the first time.

I will never get over what happened next in the Elite Eight, but this game still serves as a reminder of just how good that 2009 squad was. The depth, the energy, the insane pressure on defense, the fast break dunks- This was just an all-around incredible team.

Probably the most fun overall game on this list.
