Final Four

Squeaking one out against Wichita State

The game that had us on the edge of our seats… Just kidding, it’s the game that had us on our feet, pacing back and forth in our living rooms, shouting at the TV, and forever cursing about Ron Baker.

It’s the Tim Henderson game; You know, the one where a little-used walk-on comes in late in the game and hits two consecutive threes. No big deal, right?

It’s the game where Luke Hancock began to become a household name, Russ Smith began to mount his Naismith player of the year award run, and Louisville cemented itself in a national title game for the first time in 27 years.

Wichita freaking State! A nine-seed at that. In the final four. Greg Marshall? Who?

Looking back at this game, obviously, the Shockers have become more of a household name since this run, returning as a No. 1 seed in the 2014 tournament, and going back to every tournament played except for one since.

Still, Louisville won this game on sheer heart and will, and it’s a final few minutes most fans won’t soon forget.

Underrated play of the game: Luke Hancock’s presence of mind to tie up Baker in the waning moments. Three to the dome for that one, Luke.

What an unexpectedly great game.
