While cut short, a 24-win season was no small feat. We relive Louisville basketball’s three biggest games of the 2019-2020 season.

If there was going to be a year where Louisville basketball had every opportunity to go on a magical run, it was going to be 2019-20.

Chris Mack returned one of the deepest, experienced, and a talented core group of upperclassmen in the country while bringing in a top 10 recruiting class headlined by McDonald’s All-American, Samuell Williamson.

It was set up to be a fairy tale.

While things obviously didn’t go according to plan, the season overall was still a major success and for us fans, still a ton of fun. There were moments of play that you aged 15 years over a course of a 40-minute game or calls that made you want to throw your phone through your television (looking at you, Teddy Valentine).

Along the way, however, we also saw at times an elite level of basketball play that we didn’t expect to see for quite some time before Chris Mack arrived.

From knocking off an elite Duke team at Cameron indoor, back-to-back puzzling losses against intensely average ACC teams and a little of everything else in between, this season had it all with a sudden and shocking ending to top it off.

As we’re still in the midst of a sports-less global pandemic, I want to take a look back at Louisville’s top three games from this season to hopefully inject some positive memories back into your brains.

There were multiple great games throughout the season that helped mold each player, however, these three games changed the trajectory of Louisville’s team, helping to prepare them for a potential deep run in the tournament given the chance.
