Louisville basketball: 5 under the radar transfers for Cards
By Jacob Lane
Are there any “under the radar” transfers who may be worth pursuing for Louisville basketball?
There are a lot of players in the transfer portal as of April, 1st. In fact, at 12:27 PM the number stood at 606. Over the last two weeks, we’ve dug deeper into just about every player who Chris Mack and the Louisville basketball program have expressed to.
Several of those players have since pulled the trigger on new schools, while others are still in the process of getting to know staff and understanding what a school has to offer – all while dealing with the impacts of COVID-19.
Mack and the Cards stand in a good place with several high-profile transfers including Justin Turner and Carlick Jones, all of whom have the potential to swing the expectations for Louisville in 2019-20.
As of now, the word to describe the current state of the Louisville basketball roster is youthful.
With only one upperclassman in Malik Williams, Mack will rely a ton on his six sophomores (JaeLyn Withers is technically a RS freshman) who have mostly yet to prove how good they can be. Louisville knows that adding a graduate-transfer or two is a must, which is why the staff has filled their big board with so many names.
However, there are always players who fly under the radar when handfuls of names are added to the transfer portal each day. With that in mind, I looked at all the players who are now available looking for five who could potentially be good fits for Louisville – despite not getting the national attention of some of the other names we’ve written about.
Without further ado, here are five players who could be under the radar players to watch for Chris Mack and the Louisville basketball program.
