Louisville football: Five local prospects you need to know
Jack Dingle – Linebacker
Louisville, KY
The lone Louisville player currently ranked in the 247Sports Kentucky State rankings, Dingle is a guy that may be a sleeper in this class, but he has a ton of potential and a game that the staff really wants at the linebacker position.
Dingle is long and rangy, he’s extremely quick, and he plays with a reckless pursuit of the ball. He does a lot of stuff that you don’t see on a high school player’s tape, particularly one with his skillset. What is impressive to me is that his advantage at the high school level is his size and speed, yet he does not shy away from contact whatsoever.
Pretty much the majority of Dingle’s tape is him getting off the ball quickly in the running game, assessing and making correct decisions, and mowing over whatever blocker is in the way to get to the ball.
An underrated part of his game as well appears to be his ability to stay with guys over the middle. Time after time, he picks up a slot receiver or tight and stays on their hip down the field, oftentimes suffocatingly in pass coverage.
I’m really blown away that Dingle doesn’t have more power five offers. His only other big-time offer is from Cincinnati, which is where his brother plays and where his dad played.
However, his brother Jacob didn’t hold any power five offers, and I feel that with this staff pursuing him, it would be a major upset if he ended up anywhere else.
Dingle would be a huge get and I could see him falling into the mold of some of these linebackers we’ve loved to watch under Satterfield like Rodjay Burns, Yassir Abdullah, and CJ Avery.
