Chris Mack and Louisville basketball just assured that the 2020-21 team will be a little deeper with the addition of grad transfer Carlik Jones.

Louisville basketball just got a little better and a lot more versatile on Sunday with the addition of Radford graduate transfer Carlik Jones.

The rising senior, who averaged 20 points, 5.5 assists, and 5 rebounds during his junior campaign was the number one graduate transfer on the market and will be an immediate help for the Cards next season.

Jones told Brian Snow of 247Sports on Sunday exactly what he is looking for in a future team:

“What I am really looking for is what they have done the past few years,” said Jones. “What has that coach done as far as player development, sending guys to the NBA, and what they have done as far as coaching. By that, I mean NCAA Tournament appearances, championships won, Elite Eight, Final Four’s and stuff like that.”

Jones said that he had his list narrowed and he would be making a decision within a week, but we received a confirmation tweet from Mack just hours later.

Here’s what we wrote on Jones’ game last week:

"If Louisville wants to add a do-it-all type of guy, Jones feels like the perfect fit. He was the primary ball-handler in his three years at Radford, but he also led the Highlanders in points and assists last season and was the third-leading rebounder."

"At only 6’1,” Jones plays much larger than his size. He follows shots near the basket and crashes the boards like a forward. He doesn’t have ridiculous athleticism to his advantage, but he seems to find himself in the right place at the right time a lot."

Louisville will still have at least one more roster spot open, but the addition of Jones is a perfect fit for the Cards regardless of if they hold onto Jay Scrubb or not.

Jones is a much more natural point guard, and he could be something special playing interchangeably with David Johnson, Josh Nickelberry, and potentially Scrubb.

Next. Way too early bold predictions for 2020-21. dark
