Could 2021 be the best recruiting class for Chris Mack and Louisville basketball? We examine three recruits who are at the top of the big board for the Cards.
With the disappointing news of the cancelation of March Madness, we have been forced to look ahead. For Louisville basketball fans, that means checking on the guys that Chris Mack is working on to commit to UofL.
Mack has proven himself capable of filling a great roster and producing a basketball team that can compete, doing so again on Sunday night as the Cards landed a commitment from Radford transfer Carlik Jones. He also has a great staff, including Luke Murray, that works hard to ensure recruiting is a year-round effort. However, he also has some things to show in the years ahead to compete with the top recruiting coaches.
Louisville is a step up from Xavier for Mack, and he is able to attract some top players he formerly could not. However, Mack has inherited the FBI investigation issue that could possibly get in his way. Grabbing guys like Samuell Williamson and David Johnson in his first year was crucial. He gave Louisville fans a taste of what he can do with time. Along with that, he has had some upsetting developments, such as big question mark that is Jay Scrubb.
Playing basketball at Louisville can be a destination spot for many athletes. Not only giving them an opportunity at a high level in college, but also the ability to play at the next level. Developing stars in the NBA is one area that Chris Mack needs more success with. To get those great players, it’s never too early to start looking into them. The coaching staff already has their eyes on several players who could complete a successful 2021 class.
