Hunter Sallis – Combo guard

Omaha, NE (Four-star)

Hunter Sallis is a junior at Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. After finishing an impressive year averaging 22.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals a game, he has caught quite a bit of attention from top basketball schools. After a visit from Luke Murray, Chris Mack officially offered Sallis a 2021 scholarship in March.

A highly rated six-foot-four Sallis has already received his fair share of offers outside of Louisville. These teams include Kansas, Nebraska, UCLA, and Gonzaga. He is going to have the talent to go to many top Universities, but Nebraska is going to give their best shot at keeping him at home.

Rivals list Sallis as a five-star point guard at 165 pounds. His national rank has been on an upward trajectory, now landing at the 20th best recruit in the 2021 class. Many think Kansas has a great shot, but it’s likely he won’t decide anytime soon.

This is one situation where Chris Mack will have to beat out strong competition in order to land one of the top guards in the 2021 class. He is going to be surrounded by a lot of noise going into his senior year with many offers on the table.

He isn’t someone who has narrowed his choices or has announced his favorites, so he will have more visits and conversations ahead. Nothing has pointed toward the Louisville direction as of yet, but he is definitely a guy to keep an eye on.

Louisville’s most glaring need in the class of 2021 is at guard, as Louisville will only be allowed the services of Carlik Jones for one season, while David Johnson and Jay Scrubb both could be off to the NBA in 2021. Chris Mack needs at least two guards who will be able to provide an instant impact right away; Sallis fits that bill.
