Louisville basketball just added its second grad transfer in the 2020 class. Now what does the rotation look like?

The 2020-21 Louisville basketball roster just improved with the addition of graduate transfer Charles Minlend from San Francisco.

The Cards found out on Friday that presumptive guard/wing starter Jay Scrubb would be foregoing his junior season and heading to the league, so they went out and got one of the best transfers left of the market.

Now, Louisville has minimized the damage after losing Scrubb and is one more player away from having a completed roster for next season.

Minlend adds an aggressive guard who can slide over and play a little three as well.

So, if the season started tomorrow, here’s what the roster would look like.

Carlik Jones*
Charles Minlend
Josh Nickelberry

Samuell Williamson*
D’Andre Davis

So now, a discussion can be had regarding the outlook of Louisville’s rotation in 2020-21.

To start, let’s look at who is a guaranteed starter.

David Johnson– Started the back half of last season and became Louisville’s best playmaker. Could slide to the two this year.

Carlik Jones– There’s a reason he’s the best grad transfer in the country. Excellent scorer and an underrated passing and rebounding threat. Should start at the point.

Malik Williams– The best defender on the team. 100 percent lock to start.

Samuell Williamson– Maybe the only questionable one with the addition of Minlend, but brings versatility in that he can play the 2-4.

Now, that leaves one of Minlend, Withers, or Slazinski to assume the final starting spot.

If the season started today, I think Minlend and Withers along with Nickelberry are the first players off the bench.

That leaves Quinn Slazinski as the final starter heading into the season.

So, here’s the final look at the starters:

1- Carlik Jones

2- David Johnson

3- Samuell Williamson

4- Quinn Slazinski

5- Malik Williams

Sixth man- Charles Minlend

Darhorse starter- Jae’Lyn Withers

Louisville basketball may be taking a step down in talent and depth in 2020-21, but you can’t help but love the potential of this team in the ACC.
