On the road at Boston College – January 29, 2020

Jordan Nwora played arguably his best career game against conference opponent Boston College on the road very early in 2020. Nwora scored at ease pouring in a career-high 37 points, along with nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

While the most impressive part of Nwora’s game may have been his three-point shooting, my personal favorite play came at the 15-minute mark in the second half on a fast break. David Johnson led a fast break down the court following a steal, he then found a streaking Nwora headed for the basket and hit him in stride leading to an emphatic dunk, extending the Cardinal lead to eight points.

Nwora was all-around dominant in this game and it set the bar for just how dangerous he could be on any given night in the ACC. He was especially hot from beyond the arc making seven three-point shots on 14 attempts, putting together one of his best shooting performances of his career. Nwora also showed his ability to get to the foul line and cash in making eight of his nine free-throw attempts. Nwora showed the country why he was an All-American candidate.

When asked about his impressive scoring performance Nwora said:

“I can score 20 points every game if I really want to. It’s not really about that this year,… It’s about winning games. I don’t want to score 20 in a way that’s going to hurt the team.”

Jim Christian, the head coach of Boston College, also praised Nwora’s big night saying:

“He hadn’t played well, so he’s due….He got into a great rhythm, he’s a great player. A couple of times we were right there. … Some guys you can be a step slow and still get there and contest it, not with a great shooter like that.”

Jordan Nwora has had his shares of ups and downs, but overall has had an impressive career that will forever endear him to Cardinal fans for years to come. I will be following and rooting for him wherever he ends up in the NBA and wish him the best of luck.
