Tutu Atwell – WR

The option offense that Coach Satterfield brought to the Louisville football program benefited many players on offense, but probably none more so than Atwell. He led Louisville last season in receiving with 69 receptions, 1,272 yards and 11 touchdowns. That led the ACC in yards and was second in touchdowns, and broke the school’s all-time receiving yards in a single-season record.

Tutu Atwell may have more national attention than any other Louisville Cardinal this preseason as ESPN has ranked Atwell as the eighth-best returning wide receiver ($) for the 2020 season and numerous other outlets have mentioned Atwell as a possible national All-American at wide receiver.

Atwell is from Miami, Florida and played at Northwestern High School, the same school that Teddy Bridgewater attended. His father set goals for his son Tutu going into the 2019 season, and he far exceeded that list. Not only do fans expect a lot from him this upcoming season, but he expects a lot from himself.

After last season he spoke with 247 Sports. “Pretty much putting the ball in my hands,” Atwell Jr. said. “My freshman year I didn’t get the ball like that. It’s not a big deal, you know what I mean? I just wanted to show people what I can do at receiver and no look down on me. This year was just having the ball in my hands. Now they see what I can do.”

He is only 5 foot 8 and little over 150 pounds. His speed sets him apart from the defensive backs that are assigned to him. Atwell hopes to be the most dynamic college receiver in 2020, and Cardinal fans are excited to see it.
