Renato Brown – OT

2019 stats: 4 games played, 0 starts

One of the key areas that Coach Satterfield had to improve at Louisville was the offensive line. He had plenty of offensive weapons but needed some talent to improve the rushing game and to protect the quarterback. One of the key recruits in 2019 was lineman Renato Brown.

In high school, he played on both sides of the ball, but has been exclusively on the offensive line for the Cards. As a three-star recruit that once was committed to Miami and had offers from Alabama, Florida, Penn State, Georgia, and others, Brown appeared in just four games in 2019, preserving his redshirt, and giving the Cards depth should they have needed it.

Any time Louisville steals a recruit from some of these top football schools, it draws attention. Louisville’s line is looking to be tough this season, even with the loss of Mekhi Becton. After the commitment from Connecticut transfer Cam DeGeorge, Sports Illustrated discussed the talent up front.

"“No matter where he ultimately is assigned to on the line, the competition between himself and Adonis Boone, Cole Bentley, Robbie Bell, Caleb Chandler and newly minted starting tackle Renato Brown is expected to be fierce.”"

Louisville fans know there is talent at the running back position with Javian Hawkins and Hassan Hall, so the offensive line will have some pressure going into the season. Renato Brown isn’t coming off a spectacular year like others on this list, but this season could be the beginning for him.

The 6-4, 280 pound tackle will look to make a name for himself in the 2020 season.
