Dez Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick is a guy who was also on this list last season, and still has things left to prove. He will be a fifth-year senior with three full years of playing experience under his belt, not including his redshirt season.

Last season he finished second on the team with 35 receptions for 635 yards and six touchdowns. Many thought he would be the leading target, however, Tutu made a name for himself on the edge.

He passed on the opportunity to forego his senior season and enter the draft to come back to Louisville. He is also going to have the opportunity to play with his younger brother, Christian, as he also signed with the Cardinals. He listed his reasons for returning as the opportunity to play with his brother, having a WR coach with NFL experience, the Music City Bowl win, and unfinished business.

His 18 touchdowns during his career at UofL has him tied with Deion Branch as sixth-most in the history of Louisville football. He had to go through a rough year with Bobby Petrino, not having the success or getting the headlines that he wanted.

His last season will be the most important for his legacy as a Cardinal. As he passes many all-time records, he will want to accomplish that in an impressive and winning way. Dez Fitzpatrick has the benefit this year of lining up with Tutu Atwell and needs to take advantage.

With Atwell’s talent no longer a secret, many teams will focus in on him to limit Louisville’s success on offense. That’s going to open up the opportunity for him to shine.
