The 2021 recruiting class is just starting to heat up for Louisville football, and the staff is in on a number of big-time running backs. Where the Cards stand with their top running back targets.

Louisville football is set to see another offensive explosion this upcoming season; a big part of that is the return of the running back explosive Javian Hawkins-Hassan Hall duo. The All-ACC second-team selections racked up a combined 2,026 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

As the feature back, Hawkins is in a good position to put his name in the discussion for many of the nation’s prestigious awards, while Hall has shown the ability to take over games at times.

There is no doubt that the 2020 season will be an exciting one for the Cardinal offense, but it doesn’t hurt to look ahead. Both star running backs will be eligible for the NFL Draft after the season, and their status of returning is yet to be determined. Either or both could end up coming back, but Louisville needs to put emphasis on the position in the recruiting arena.

Head coach Scott Satterfield and company added two backs in his first recruiting class in 2019; local-product Aidan Robbins and fellow three-star Jalen Mitchell will get opportunities to showcase their talents once Hawkins and Hall leave.

The staff has significant playing time to pitch to recruits due to lack of experience, and they’re involved with some talented prospects in the 2021 class.

Let’s take a look at some of the top options for Louisville at the running back position.
