Chayden Peery

PRO – Chatsworth, CA

Before the last week or so, Chayden Peery has been the main priority at the quarterback position for Louisville, and he still might be. The 6-foot-2 signal-caller from Chatsworth, California is ranked as the 21st-best pro-style quarterback according to 247Sports Composite, and lands at no. 548 overall in the 2021 class.

Peery has been offered by a number of programs like Boise State, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, NC State, and others. Last season, he had a staggering 24/1 touchdown-to-interception ratio while passing for 3,401 yards.

For Peery, Louisville is in a good position. In an interview with 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Peery said,

"“It’s a top school of mine. I have a really good relationship with Coach (Frank) Ponce and pretty much the whole coaching staff. Coach Satterfield lets his guys coach, he doesn’t get overly involved or micromanage or anything, and he really turned the program around and knows how to win games. They were one of the first power five schools to believe in me and offer me and they have consistently shown love to not only me but my whole family.”"

A three-year starter for Sierra Canyon high school, Peery reads defenses extremely well and is able to place the football wherever he wants with solid accuracy and effortless arm strength. His footwork and IQ will allow him to compete right away at the next level.

Peery’s release is natural and he has a distinguished touch regardless if he’s throwing in the pocket or on the run. Perhaps the most impressive thing about him is that he doesn’t get rattled easily nor does he make many ill-advised decisions. He only threw one interception during his junior campaign. He’s shown he isn’t afraid to step up in the pocket and deliver a throw or check down to a route in the flat.

Satterfield will continue the fullcourt press for the three-stars services until he signs with a program; Louisville has turned into a quarterback factory, and Peery could be a potential next-in-line candidate.
