Louisville football fans had their eyes on Jeff Brohm to come in and take the head coaching job for the Cardinals. Instead, the head coach of Appalachian State appeared on the radar. After Scott Satterfield’s first year, he quickly gained plenty of support across Card Nation. He has climbed to the top of the list coaches to look out for in the ACC. But could Coach Satterfield serve as the biggest threat to Dabo Swinney and his Clemson dynasty?
247 Sports recently released the ranking of the top 25 coaches in college football. Sitting at number 17, just ahead of Michigan’s Jim Harbough, is Scott Satterfield. With plenty of work to do to catch up with Dabo at second the stunning fashion he made his way to this spot leaves plenty of hope, he will continue to move up.
Satterfield was just what UofL needed, and he came at just the right time. Bobby Petrino didn’t exactly leave with spirits high inside of the locker room. Plenty of Satterfield’s peers knew he would quickly win over his school.
“That university won’t find a better human being for that job,” Colorado State assistant coach Alvis Whitted said of Satterfield, a high school teammate. “He is what that university needs.”
After one year in Louisville, there are several qualities and early accomplishments that are encouraging to the Cardinals. Dabo is still king in the ACC, but Satterfield is a candidate to put pressure on his dominance.
